Blog Reboot

I had a pretty eventful last few evenings performing some general updates and server maintenance. It turns out that hosting your own WordPress server on Windows Server is a little more complicated than hosting a regular IIS website! Some people make it seem so easy. Three Steps they say! If you are looking to set up WordPress on Windows, this guide will help you. It can also lead you more or less to the same situation I found myself in, with tons of health warnings. Troubleshooting your own system is a great way to spend your evenings. Nevertheless, I did manage to clean up the health messages. WordPress had been nagging me about, and things are looking much better now.

This server maintenance was overdue. I had been ignoring these messages hoping that WordPress was wrong. It wasn’t, and I was. The maintenance I performed also resulted in some significant performance improvements.

Performing this server maintenance was frustrating, I’m not going to lie about that. There were a few times when I thought I might never be able to move forward. In the end, I think the server maintenance was worth it even just for the learning experience. Now, I am fully up to date and ready to get back to documenting some of my travel experiences and reliving those memories.

If you’re not new here, you may have noticed…. While I was doing all of this work, I decided I would re-write some of my previous posts. As a result, my previous content is no longer published. I will be publishing more content soon. I will still focus most of my content on my travels and vacations. Some of the posts I write may be more focused on things that are happening in my life, or things that I’m working on. I’ll try to keep things interesting, and be informative.

So, bye for now. Stay tuned for a series about my first trip to French Polynesia!
